Dr. Joseph Garbely, a licensed psychiatrist and internist, currently holds the positions of Chief Medical Officer and Medical Director of the Recovery Program at Friends Hospital.

Paul Cavanaugh has held positions in hospital operations and human resources at Philadelphia and suburban hospitals in PA as well as hospitals in Massachusetts.

Dr. James G. Jones brings over 16 years of experience to Friends Hospital and currently serves as Medical Staff.

Dr. Paige Novick-Kline, a licensed psychologist, currently serves as Supervising Psychologist at Friends Hospital.

Dr. Martin D. Plutzer, M.D., Staff Psychiatrist, has over 35 years of psychiatric experience and is a member of the American Psychiatric Association.

As Medical Director of Friends Hospital’s Adolescent Unit, Dr. Karriem Lateef Salaam specializes in caring for young people who suffer from psychiatric or emotional difficulties.

Dr. Jonathan G. Shack is Attending Psychiatrist on the General Adult Units at Friends Hospital.

In his position at Friends, Dr. Swanljung treats patients with a variety of affective, psychotic, and substance use disorders, and provides supervision and training of Drexel medical students and psychiatric residents.

Dr. Cindy Nikolett Takacs is currently the clinical program director of the recently opened recovery-oriented inpatient program at Friends Hospital. She comes to Friends Hospital from Spalding University in Louisville, Kentucky, where she attained her doctoral degree in clinical psychology.

Dr. Uffner currently oversees the Friends Hospital Older Adult program, which specializes in inpatient treatment for a variety of mental disorders, including: depression, Alzheimer’s Disease, other dementias, and psychiatric illness complicated by medical problems.
