Peter T. Swanljung, M.D., Medical Director, General Adult Unit
In his position at Friends, Dr. Swanljung treats patients with a variety of affective, psychotic, and substance use disorders, and provides supervision and training of Drexel medical students and psychiatric residents.
Prior to taking on the role of Medical Director of the General Adult Unit, Dr. Swanljung served as Chief Resident of the Drexel University Psychiatry Residency Training Program at Friends Hospital. In this program, he won numerous awards, including the Award for Clinical Excellence, Chief Resident Award, and the Award for Outstanding Performance in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
Dr. Swanljung has had numerous articles published on topics such as interpersonal and group dynamics in running a residency call committee, and counseling patients to quit smoking.
He is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, and fully licensed in the State of Pennsylvania. Dr. Swanljung holds an M.D. from Temple University School of Medicine, Philadelphia; and a B.A. in economics from the College of William and Mary, Williamsburg, Va.
