Staff from Friends Hospital and the Beck Community Initiative came together to present on their collaboration at the Philadelphia Department of Behavioral Health and intellectual disability Services (DBHIDS) Evidence-Based Practice Open House. For the past two years, Beck Community Initiative staff have partnered with Friends Hospital’s adolescent program to provide in-depth training and consultation with the goal of implementing evidence-based cognitive and behavioral therapy on the unit.

This collaboration is the first of its kind with an adolescent inpatient unit, and has resulted in improvements in the quality of patient care and staff development. Additionally, Friends Hospital’s Dr. Peter Vernig was recognized with an award from DBHIDS for his work implementing evidence-based practices at the hospital.
